I’m a member of the Paper Wishes Message Board (www.paperwishes.com), and completed this card for a challenge.  We were asked to use objects lying around from Christmas (ribbons, cards, wrapping paper — anything) and make a non-Christmas card from them.  I found this really interesting, so I looked amongst the remnants of our Christmas chaos (why is it easier to “deck the halls” and so difficult to “un-deck” them?) and found this:

It is a bow from a packaged set that was discarded under the tree (and about to become a victim of the vacuum cleaner!) and a Christmas card we received.  Since I needed to create a non-Christmas card, I cut around the animals, church and star, leaving out the Christmas tree and the text.  The image of the dog and cats staring off at the star reminded me of the Eskimo Proverb, “Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy.”  So, with the addition of the found bow, a thick paper lace border, Silver Linen Specialty Paper (from Paper Wishes) and some background papers from Paper Wishes “Twilight Jewels” Paper Pack (to be released to the crafting public on their website in April), this became a sympathy card.

On the inside of the card, I used a heart doily available from Paper Wishes and a sentiment from Unity Stamp Company that I embossed with white embossing powder.  Then I cut this out with 8 Circles and Scallops Die Set from Paper Wishes.  It looks like this:

As you can probably tell, I love Paper Wishes!  It is where I buy almost all my papers and crafting supplies.  They are a great company and I would definitely recommend checking them out.
